Yorkton is playing host to the 2019 11U AA Tier 2 baseball championship.
The 10-team event began today, (Friday), at the JC Ball Complex in the city.
The initial games on the schedule were the Regina White Sox and the Saskatoon Blue Jay Golden Gloves, and the host Yorkton Cardinals versus the Sask Five Giant Sliders.
Action continues through today, and Saturday.
The Yorkton roster includes; Max Schendel, Wyatt Laird, Dylan Ismond, Brennan Bernauer, Paxton Lucky, Eli Beatty, Connor Luster, Jett Hull, Kale Bolme, Seth Malcolm, Tyler Stewart, Tydon Soke and Theo Cleland. The head coach is Trevor Lyster, assisted by Shaune Beatty and Mark Schendel.
The next action for the Cardinals will be 10:45 a.m. against the Regina Buffalos. At 6:15 p.m., Yorkton faces the Saskatoon Braves Badgers.
The semi-finals are set for noon Sunday, with the gold medal final going at 3:15.
