HUMBOLDT – The City of Humboldt approved a budget of $108,000 that will see the Humboldt Museum receive roof and masonry repairs.
At the Feb. 24 council meeting, director of cultural services Jennifer Fitzpatrick reported that "With additional funding of $48,000 from the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation the approved budget for this project can increase to $108,000."
Fitzpatrick’s report said, “Protecting the integrity of the structural envelope is critical to long-term conservation of the building. The third floor of the museum has seen damage to the walls and ceilings due to water infiltration.”
The City of Humboldt completed a conditional assessment of the building in September 2022. The city did some temporary work in 2023, but no further work was completed in 2024.
The city is planning to complete all the roofing repair work and as much masonry repair work as is possible within the budget of $108,000 in 2025.
The City of Humboldt will begin tendering and posting an RFP this spring and anticipates the proposed work will proceed in the summer/fall of 2025.
