Community fundraisers support Iver Main in Central Butte

Seniors’ residence benefits from events into November.

Events supporting the residents of Iver Main in Central Butte begin with a fall supper scheduled for Sept. 28 in the Legion Hall.

CENTRAL BUTTE — Iver Main is not just a seniors’ residence, but a home supported by the community from fundraising to volunteers.

Three major fund-raising events are planned for September, October and November. The fall supper is being held on Sept. 28. Next is a “Post Harvest Celebration” Oct. 18. And to wind down 2024, the “Bi-annual Dinner and Auction” Nov. 23.

The fall supper offers a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, including dessert. The dinner will be held at the Central Butte Legion, 291-Main St. Tickets are $25 a plate with children under five eating for free. Seating times are 4:30 and 6 p.m. A take-out option is also available. Reserve your seat with a cash or e-transfer. The Post Harvest Celebration will be held at the Harbor Golf Community Centre, 1-Lakeside Rd. in Elbow from 5 to 11:50 p.m. The chefs have created a four-course prairie-themed meal. It starts with deli meats and cheeses charcuterie centrepieces. Main course are slow-cooked bison brisket with whiskey and Worcestershire or crispy barbecued chicken thighs with lemon-dill beurre blanc. The meal wraps up with desserts. The evening then continues with music by an Eagles tribute band.
Admission is $100 per person plus tax. Details are available online at postharvestcelebration.com. Profits are ear tagged for Iver Main and the Harbor Golf Club Community Centre.

Iver Main is selling tickets for artwork by Audrey King. Tickets are $5 each, with the drawbeing held at the Post Harvest Celebration.

The Bi-annual Dinner and Auction, held at the Central Butte School Nov. 23 at 5 pm. Held every second year, the expected number of guests will be well over 200. Tickets are $20. There will be live and silent auctions, a bucket raffle, a bar and 50/50 ticket sales. All auction items are donated by the community.
