SASKATOON – A man who was charged with using a dating app to lure and rob a Saskatoon man at gunpoint hasn't been released on bail since his arrest in November 2022.
Twenty-four-year-old Kobe Favel’s attendance was waived Tuesday in Saskatoon Provincial Court and the matter adjourned to Oct. 17.
“He continues to work on his release plan," defence counsel Marie-Therese Bayda told Saskatoon Provincial Court.
Favel, who is from Prince Albert, is charged with armed robbery, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of MDMA.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) say that Favel went to a man’s home after meeting him through a dating app. While there, the victim struggled with Favel and a gun went off, which resulted in the victim receiving minor injuries. Favel then allegedly fled the scene with the victim's vehicle, bank card, phone, and the contents of his gun safe.
The victim had called SPS and they found him in a parking lot in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West at approximately 3:30 a.m. SPS used their Air Support Unit to locate the stolen vehicle, which they said they found attempting to hide on Grey Place, and Favel was arrested without incident.
