Unity firefighters recognized at a special supper

Although it was quiet for the Unity Fire Department, members were still busy.

UNITY – Unity Fire Department saw fewer calls in October.

Two small kitchen fires were called in and extinguished relatively quickly. There was also another call for a railroad tie on fire along the tracks.

Two false alarms were also reported.

Fire Chief Dwaine Kopp said he was pleased to see the local support the department has during the annual barbecue held for Fire Prevention Week.

"It was a great turnout, we even had someone interested in an application form," says Kopp

He also wanted to recognize the residents of Parkview Place for honouring the first responders and emergency services with a special supper.

"It was nice to be honoured that way. We are looking forward to doing it again with the Parkview residents," he says.
