REGINA — Elections Canada is offering several options for voters in this spring’s federal election.

Electors can vote by special ballot and return it by mail or in person at their local Elections Canada office if they apply by the deadline. The deadline to apply to vote by mail or to vote at a local Elections Canada office is Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. Electors should visit elections.ca or call 1-800-463-6868 for more details.

Once an elector applies to vote by special ballot, they can't change their mind and vote in person at advance polls or on election day.

Voting by mail

  • Electors who want to vote by mail should apply for a special ballot voting kit as soon as possible. They need to allow enough time to submit their application, receive their special ballot voting kit and send their completed ballot to Elections Canada.
  • Electors can apply online. They can also call Elections Canada to request a paper form, print one from our website or get one at their local Elections Canada office. Electors must include proof of their identity and address with their application.
  • Once an elector's application is approved, they will receive a special ballot voting kit. Each special ballot voting kit includes a pre-addressed, postage-paid return envelope, instructions and a blank special ballot.
  • The list of candidates is updated daily on elections.ca; the final list will be available on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Lists are also available at local Elections Canada offices.
  • Electors voting by mail must make sure that Elections Canada receives their completed ballot by the deadline specified in their voting kit.
    • For electors returning their ballot from outside their riding (e.g. those away for school, work or travel, or those living abroad), we must receive their completed ballot by election day, Monday, April 28, 2025, 6 p.m. (Eastern time).
    • For electors returning their ballot from inside their riding, either by mail or in person at their local Elections Canada office, we must receive their ballot before polls close on election day, Monday, April 28, 2025.
  • Electors who request a special ballot from inside their riding on or after April 18, 2025, or who have not yet mailed it back by then, should plan to return their completed ballot in person at their local Elections Canada office.

Voting at an Elections Canada office

  • Electors can vote at any local Elections Canada office using the special ballot process. They have until Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m., local time, to do so. The offices are open seven days a week.
  • Electors who apply for a special ballot at their local Elections Canada office but do not vote there at the same time must make sure their completed ballot arrives at that office before polls close on election day.
  • Electors who apply for a special ballot at an office outside their riding but do not vote there at the same time must make sure their completed ballot arrives at Elections Canada headquarters in Ottawa by election day, 6 p.m., Eastern time.

Elections Canada is an independent, non-partisan agency that reports directly to Parliament.
