CANORA - The dates are set.
The Parkland & District Music Festival will take place in Canora on April 22 and 23, with the final concert slated for April 25, all to take place at the Canora Composite School auditorium, according to Gillian Rice, corresponding secretary.
The adjudicator will be Allison Luff.
According to information in her bio, Luff returned to her home town of Regina after pursuing piano performance studies which have taken her all over Canada, the United States, Germany and Hungary. She has had the privilege of studying with internationally renowned pianists and pedagogues (educators) alike. Luff completed a piano pedagogy specialization at the Kodaly Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Kesckemet, Hungary in 2018. She is interested in the impact of ear training and theory in the private piano studio.
Luff had the honour of giving a solo piano recital at the University of Regina as the winner of the 2012 Regina Music Club Recital Competition. As well as being an accomplished soloist, Allison has performed in contemporary ensembles, coached lieder, and published a thesis on American composer Charles Ives. Allison is presently active in the music community as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and teacher, concluded the information.
The public is welcome to attend the festival. There is a $3 charge at the door with students free of charge.
“If you are a program holder you get into all the sessions,” said Rice. “Programs are $10 and will be available for purchase the last week in March.”
