CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 23 calls from Jan. 30 to Feb. 6, some of which included:
- two 911 Act calls,
- one assault,
- one breach of peace,
- two false alarms,
- one family violence prevention,
- one Liquor Act call,
- two Mental Health Act calls,
- one suspicious person,
- two traffic collisions,
- nine traffic offenses, and
- one suspicious person.
No license open liquor
On Jan. 31, Canora/Sturgis RCMP initiated a vehicle stop with an unregistered Dodge Journey in Canora. The driver was found not to have a valid driver licence and there was open liquor sitting on the front passenger seat. The driver was issued tickets for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without driver’s license, and having, giving, keeping or consuming beverage alcohol in a vehicle. The fines totalled $1,090.
Seeing things?
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Feb. 1 to a residence in Canora three separate times for a report of gang members creeping around outside the caller’s residence. Police went to the caller’s home and determined that no one had been outside the home. Police provided the caller with information on addiction and mental health services.
Suspicious vehicle
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a caller from Preeceville reporting a black Ford Escape was blocking his driveway on Feb. 1. On call back, police learned the vehicle had already left the area.
Assisting with violent patient
On Feb. 3, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to assist EMS with an intoxicated male patient who had become violent in the back of the ambulance. Police met the ambulance on Highway 9 and helped restrain the patient.
