CANORA - Especially in rural areas, bus drivers play a vital role in helping students get to school safely and on time.
The importance of Canora bus drivers was highlighted on Monday, Nov. 25, Saskatchewan Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Yet the weather, as it often does, changed the original plans for the day.
“No busses ran Monday due to poor road conditions and heavy snowfall, so all of our bus drivers were really appreciated and able to stay home, safe and warm,” said Principal Shawna Stangel, Canora Junior Elementary School.
On Nov. 27, the weather had improved and the school honoured its bus drivers with a well-deserved extended morning coffee break.
“They were invited into the school for hot coffee, baking treats and fellowship,” said Stangel. “They were thanked for always going the extra mile by providing safe passage for our students to and from school daily while exercising patience with all riders, courage to drive on roads in all kinds of weather, and for always demonstrating care, compassion and support for all students.”
