The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 31 calls from April 28 to May 5, some of which included: four 911 Act, two missing persons, three wellbeing checks, one harassing communications, one disturbing the peace, two Mental Health Act, one suspicious person/vehicle, one break and enter, one traffic collision, five traffic offences, and 10 other provincial occurrences.
Get that charger
On April 28, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter in progress at a housing unit in Canora. Police attended and learned two young girls were trying to get into a residence to retrieve a phone charger. The two youth were warned and released to their family.
Nothing going on
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received multiple complaints on April 28 of a suspicious vehicle and a break and enter attempt to a building in the RM of Sliding Hills. Police investigated the complaints and determined that no criminal offence occurred.
Not missing, trespassing
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a missing female youth in Canora on May 2. Police were able to locate the youth following a separate complaint of the youth trespassing on property. The youth was taken home and released to her father.
Fighting in plain sight
On May 3, two male youths were observed fighting in the driveway of the Canora RCMP Detachment. Both males were detained, questioned, warned, and taken home to their parents.
Unhappy resident
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received several 911 complaints on May 3 from a resident at a local nursing care facility who was requesting police assistance to remove them from the home. Police followed up with the complainant’s family.
Getting out in a hurry
On May 4, a local hospital called the Canora/Sturgis RCMP requesting a wellbeing check on a patient who left the hospital without properly being discharged and still had an IV sticking out of their arm. Police located the patient still in good health and provided advice to them to return to the hospital.
