“We always have fun playing against Esterhazy,” said Lindsey Ostafie, team manager. “Our teams are very similar.”

The game opened in a tight defensive struggle, with neither team able to build a lead of more than two points. The Cougars led 9-8 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Warriors led by three at one point, but the Cougars battled back and the game was tied 19-19 at halftime.

In the second half, more shots started falling for the Cougars. A buzzer-beater stretched the Cougars’ lead to seven points at the end of the third quarter, a lead which they built to 37-26 by early in the final period. Esterhazy showed what they were made of and cut into the deficit for the remainder of the game, but they ran out of time with a final score of 39-34 for the Cougars.
