Gillian Rice, Parkland Music Festival Recording Secretary, welcomed family and friends to the Parkland Music Festival Final Concert at Canora Composite School on April 25, which followed the festival sessions held earlier in the week.
In addition to their piano performances, the student/musicians also received their awards/scholarships from participating sponsors.
Michael Chorneyko performed Boogie Woogie Zoo, and received the award sponsored by Leanne Buchinski.
Jacob Seghers received an award for his performance of Tango Very Much, sponsored by Parkland Christian Centre.
Oscar Vaughters, playing Sneaky Sam, received the award sponsored by Eighty-Eight Keys Music Studio.
Deacon MacMillan’s performance of Angelfish earned him the award sponsored by Parkland Christian Centre.
For her performance of Musette in D Major BWV, Lucy Chorneyko received the Canora Music Society award.
Ayaan Josen played Madeline, Madeline and won the award sponsored by Eighty-Eight Keys Music Studio.
Lowell Rice performed Far Away, earning the award sponsored by Leanne Buchinski.
For her performance of Highly Flammable! Ariana Kapitoler received the Crossroads Credit Union award.
Finn Propp played Kick and Snare Drum, earning the award sponsored by Dandee-Care Natural.
Chengtian Huang performed Moonlight on the Water, earning the award sponsored by Leanne Buchinski.
Claire John’s performance of Reminescence earned the St. Joseph’s Service Group award.
His performance of Garter Snakes earned Kyler Ruado the award sponsored by Leanne Buchinski.
Rayleen Grace Young and Leanne Buchinski earned the Canora Music Society award for their performance of the duet, Beethoven’s Ghost.
Poppy Fullawka’s performance of Creaky Staircase won the Lewis Cattle Oiler Co. award
Seth Propp played Iron Hog and won the award sponsored by Gateway Co-op.
Cottontail Bounce was played by Anna Chorneyko, earning her the award sponsored by St. Joseph’s Service Group.
Hailey Seghers performed Rainbow Fish and won the award sponsored by Gateway Co-op.
Lochlan Rice’s performance of Astronauts in Space won the KBS Customs Repairs award.
Performing Sonata in F Major op. 168 no. 1, Catherine Chorneyko won the Beta Sigma Phi award.
Lawrence Vaughters played Shark Tango and won the Canora Auto Service award.
Cassie John’s performance of A Slow Waltz op. 39, no. 23 won the award sponsored by Parkland Christian Centre.
Mia Angela Leonor and Maycee Jucaban won the duet award sponsored by Canora Equipment Rentals, Jeff Keyowski, for their rendition of Stompin’. Jucaban won a solo performance award for Allegro Moderator in F Mayor, sponsored by Eighty-Eight Keys Music Studio. Leonor’s solo performance of a lively arrangement of Mary Had a Little Lamb earned her the Crossroads Credit Union award.
After the final performance, Gillian Rice, recording secretary, thanked the sponsors and acknowledged the many other volunteers who put in many hours of work on the festival.
