Pats U18 team continues playoff run, aided by Canora players

The Preeceville Pats U18 team (white jerseys) defeated Whitewood with two straight wins to advance in the playoffs on February 27, ending the series in front of a home town crowd in Preeceville. The Pats advance to play Indian Head in the next round.

The Preeceville Pats U18 hockey team battled for their playoff lives when they defeated the Whitewood Jets in a two game battle in the first round of playoffs.

The first game was held in Whitewood on February 17 with the Pats coming out on top thanks to a 10 to 5 victory. The game was a hard hitting affair full of penalties for both teams that showcased the intensive of the game.

Scoring for Preeceville were: Kaiden Masley (five goals), Logan Wolkowski of Canora and Spencer Leech each had two goals and Trever Geistlinger finished the scoring with a single. Assists were by: Wolkowski, Geistlinger, Justin Abrahamson, Hudsyn Nelson, Rhett Ludba of Canora, Brody Shankowsky and Mason Babiuk.

The second and deciding game was held in Preeceville on February 27 and the home-town crowd cheered them on to a 9 to 3 victory. The win came at a cost with many penalties being served to both teams. Goal scorers for Preeceville were: Logan Wolkowski (two goals), Nathan Anaka, Kaiden Masley, Bronson Heshka of Canora, Porter Wolkowski of Canora, Spencer Leech, Justin Abrahamson and Hudsyn Nelson. Assists by Seth Hort, Porter Wolkowski, Trever Geistlinger, Logan Wolkowski, Hudsyn Nelson, Bronson Heshka of Canora, Hunter Lamb of Canora and Kaiden Masley.

The Pats will now face off against Indian Head in the next round of playoff games. The first game was to be held in Preeceville on March 6.
