RCMP looking for assistance to recover missing grid road sign

Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint from the RM of Good Lake that the “Tiny Grid” road sign was missing, and are asking for information from the public in this investigation.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 42 calls from Sept. 7 to Sept. 14, including a collision involving a truck and a semi. The truck was towed and not driveable, the semi received minor damages.

CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 42 calls from Sept. 7 to Sept. 14, some of which included: two traffic collisions, 12 traffic offences, one prohibited operation, one impaired operation, five other provincial calls, three municipal bylaws, one Firearms Act call, one failure to comply, one disturbing the peace, one sexual assault, one uttering threats, one assault, two thefts, two mischiefs, two frauds, two suspicious persons, and three other calls.

Road sign disappears

Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on Sept. 12 from the RM of Good Lake that the “Tiny Grid” road sign was missing. The Canora/Sturgis RCMP is asking for the public assistance for any information related to this crime.

Loud noise

On Sept. 11, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of several loud bangs. Police made patrols and could not identify the source of the noise. Later that evening, police were dispatched to a gentleman shooting off fireworks. The gentleman was trying to get his friend’s attention who lived at the nearby house.

Traffic stop arrest

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 10. The vehicle driver was arrested for driving while prohibited and the vehicle was towed.

Truck/semi collision

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Sept. 9 to a motor vehicle collision involving a truck and a semi. The driver of the truck received minor injuries and the driver of the semi was not injured. The truck was towed and not driveable, the semi received minor damages.

Contentious divorce

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call on Sept. 8 from a person trying to obtain their items from a divorce settlement. Police attended to keep the peace and there were no issues.

Impaired driver arrested

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to an impaired driver on Sept. 8. The driver and vehicle were located at the Canora Gas Bar. The driver was arrested for impaired operation.

Liquor store theft

On Sept. 8, Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of theft from the Liquor Store. Employees confronted the suspects and one fled on foot. Both suspects were identified and the investigation is ongoing.

What pictures?

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP got a complaint on Sept. 7 about a suspicious person walking down the street appearing to be taking pictures of people’s houses. Members attended and located the person and determined the person was just walking down the street and wasn’t taking any pictures.
