RCMP Report: Stolen Manitoba vehicle tracked to Canora

The Swan River RCMP contacted the Canora/Sturgis RCMP to report a stolen vehicle was tracked to a residence in Canora. Police recovered the vehicle and it was returned to Swan River.

Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 47 calls from June 22 to June 28, including a curfew check on a male in Preeceville. The male was not home and charged for breaching his court ordered curfew condition.

CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 47 calls from June 22 to June 28, some of which included: one 911 Act call, four assaults, one assault with a weapon, one breach of peace, one break-and-enter, two criminal harassments, four disturbing the peace, three failures to comply with conditions, one fraud, two Mental Health Act calls, two mischiefs, two other provincial calls, two possession of stolen property calls, one resisting arrest, one theft, 19 traffic offenses, and one prisoner.

Not a happy relationship

On June 22, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of yelling and screaming in the alley behind the Canora RCMP Detachment. Police investigated and learned a male had been chasing a female. The male was located a few blocks away and was arrested for failing to comply with conditions of his undertaking not to have contact with the female.

Arrest made after assault

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on June 22 to a report of an assault in the RM of Preeceville. Police attended and located an intoxicated male in the side of the road with facial injuries. A male suspect was identified and charged with assault.

Stolen vehicle tracked

The Swan River RCMP contacted the Canora/Sturgis RCMP to report a stolen vehicle was tracked by Onstar to a residence on Centre Avenue East in Canora on June 23. Police recovered the vehicle and it was returned to Swan River. The investigation is ongoing.

Broken curfew

On June 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP did a curfew check on a male in Preeceville. The male was not home and charged for breaching his court ordered curfew condition.

Poked with stick, not stabbed

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report on June 24 that a youth had stabbed another youth in Canora. Police investigated the matter and determined no one was stabbed but someone did get poked with a stick. Police spoke to the youth and their parents about the incident.

Assault

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance call in Buchanan on June 26. Police investigated and charged a female with assault.

Suspended driver, drug bust

On June 26, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP stopped a vehicle in Preeceville that was being driven by a male known to have a suspended driver’s licence. During the investigation the male was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and he resisted arrest. 

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred at the Sturgis Rodeo on June 27. The investigation is ongoing.
