Kamsack is holding a summer far on June 21 to 23, complete with rides from Canuck Amusements.

KAMSACK — Summer in Kamsack is getting into full swing on the second last weekend of June, with a fair complete with rides coming to town.

“It’ll be something the town residents hadn't seen for many years,” said Greg Podovinnikoff, the manager of recreation for the Town of Kamsack. He added he has been working on the much-anticipated fair with the town for the past three months.

The events will go from 12 p.m. to around 10 p.m. on Friday June 21, Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23 at the Kamsack Sportsgrounds.

The town is bringing Canuck Amusements from Selkirk, Man. to town for a three-day fair with rides including a Ferris wheel, Force 10, Dizzy Dragon, Zumur, Glass House, Paratroopers and more. Kiddie rides like Go Gator, Atlantis, ladybugs will be available for families to enjoy.

“We have posters out and ads, it's on Facebook and social media. It's very reasonable in price for wristbands for all the rides, so I encourage everybody to come out,” Podovinnikoff said.

The town is expecting a few thousand people to show up, including those in the surrounding areas.

Podovinnikoff said it’s an opportunity to bring people together and to work on strengthening the community as a whole community and area.

“Kamsack really hasn't had a fair in many years. We would like to start reviving it and Canuck Amusements showed interest in coming here. They're going to give us a percentage of their receipts from the rides.”

Local businesses will be there to showcase their crafts.

“We are setting up a market vending area, with that we have concessions and beer gardens.”

“So just come out, support it and have some fun.”

Podovinnikoff said the town is also organizing its Canada Day celebrations, which will include mud bogs.

“Also, there'll be some ballgames and fireworks on July 1, and a free swim at the swimming pool in the morning.”
