KAMSACK — A sleigh full of cheer will be added to a lucky district resident’s Christmas festivities this year if he or she is a supporter of the Kamsack Library.
Wanting new laptop computers and tables to put them on, as well as equipment upgrades and chairs, the board of the Kamsack branch of Parkland Library has launched a “Sleigh full of Cheer” fundraiser, said Betty Dix, board chair.
Since the beginning of November, tickets costing $10 each are being sold, Dix explained. On Dec. 16 a draw will be made for three prizes loaded with cheer.
The first prize is a sleigh full of cheer valued at $750, she said. The second prize is a basket full of cheer valued at $500, while the third prize is another basket of cheer, this time valued at $250.
If the fundraiser is a success, the Library will be able to make the purchases it requires, she said, urging district residents to purchase tickets from board members or the Library or from Buck’s Dollar Store, Pheobe’s Beauty Parlour or the Kamsack Liquor Store.
Such raffles have been very successful in other communities, she said.
Dix said the board was very appreciative to have learned that Affinity Credit Union has provided $1,535 to the Library, which will be used to purchase laptop computers in the new year.
