A total of $1,000 worth of Tupperware products was donated to Eaglestone Lodge this week by Shelley Filipchuk of Kamsack on behalf of Tupperware and its Pay It Forward program. With the merchandise, which was displayed on the kitchen counter, are Filipchuk; Tricia Sheptak, lodge manager; Mindy Fullawka, kitchen manager, and Nancy Brunt, lodge board chair.

KAMSACK — The large preparation table in the centre of the kitchen at Eaglestone Lodge in Kamsack was filled with many Tupperware products Feb. 28 when they were donated to the Lodge, thanks to a giving Tupperware program.

In total, $1,000 worth of Tupperware products, including storage pieces, water jugs, freezer mates, soup cups, bowls, various utensils and knives were donated to the lodge by Shelley Filipchuk, a Tupperware manager, who has been retailing the products for four years.

From Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, the company held a Pay It Forward Week, Filipchuk said.

“December is the season of giving, a time to make a positive impact in our communities by supporting others,” information from Tupperware, said. “This year, you have the chance to select a local individual, group, organization or foundation that matters to you, and we will donate Tupperware products on your behalf.”

Filipchuk explained that for every $300 in personal sales she made during that week, she was able to enter the contest by naming a recipient for the prize. She made two such entries, one for Eaglestone Lodge and the other for the KamKids Daycare.

When the draw was made, Filipchuk learned that she was one of three Tupperware agents in Canada to have won, and it was the entry naming the lodge that had been selected.

Eaglestone Lodge would benefit by having all the Tupperware, Filipchuk said on her entry form. It brings back memories of younger days with family and of enjoying all the group activities.

“In December, we discovered the lodge was the winner of the prize,” she said, explaining that Mindy Fullawka, the lodge’s kitchen manager, was able to look over the Tupperware catalogue and select the items that would be most useful for the lodge.

Although normally, a winner of the program would receive $500 worth of Tupperware products, because the lodge is a non-profit organization, the prize was doubled to $1,000 worth of products, Filipchuk explained.

“This is the 78th year for Tupperware, and we’re going strong,” she said.

Accepting the merchandise, Nancy Brunt, chair of the Lodge’s board, said that on behalf of the board, she thanks Filipchuk for the items, which are valuable and needed.
