The bail hearing in the Desiree Musqua case has been delayed until Musqua finds a new lawyer.

The hearing was scheduled for August 23 at the Yorkton Pronvincial Court. However, Musqua’s attorney started the proceedings by saying Musqua is looking for a new lawyer.

“Ms. Musqua wishes to dismiss her lawyer,” he said.

“I want to apply for the court-appointed lawyer,” Musqua said.

The judge at the hearing told Musqua that dismissing her attorney will impact the consideration process for the court-appointed lawyer.

“You realize it’s going to be an uphill battle,” he said.

The judge also told Musqua that the Crown will be able to call her former lawyer forward as a witness. Musqua decided to proceed with finding a different attorney.

The Crown expressed its disappointment that the bail hearing was being postponed.

“It’s going to delay matters again,” he said.

Musqua is facing charges of robbery in connection with the Lawrence Skoretz murder case from last September. Musqua was charged in March.

Musqua will return to court on September 12 for the application of her court-appointed lawyer. She will be remanded until then.
