Steve Gibson is hoping for a little exposure Friday, and we’re not talking about COVID-19.
Gibson, with special guest BriteCruise will be performing at the City Limits Inn in Yorkton, and the performance is being filmed for broadcast by SaskTel Max.
“I actually approached them (SaskTel) a while ago to see if they wanted to tape it,” said Gibson, adding he pitched the idea as a way to feature both a band and a music venue that have been hit by the restrictions of the pandemic.
“I got a message they’d love to do it.”
Gibson said he’s expecting a crew of about 10 on the city to catch his show on film.
As for the performance Gibson said he’s basically chomping at the bit.
“It will be fun to get back on stage,” he said, adding live gigs have dried up since COVI-19 hit.
While noting he has done some online music to help people through the self-isolating, it’s time to be on stage again, and he and his band have been gathering to fine-tune things for about three-weeks in front of Friday’s event.
The show starts at 7 Friday, and is free admittance, said Gibson adding the decision to not charge was simply a way to give people something fun at an uncertain time.
“We don’t know if we’re going on another lockdown so we wanted a little bit of fun while we can,” he said.
There will be limited spots though, 100, on a first-come basis, and while you can take your mask off at your table, it will be required if you are walking around, said Gibson.
