The Sturgis Kin Club’s annual duck derby had 608 plastic ducks race for the finish line over the rock rapids.

STURGIS - The Sturgis Kin club annual duck derby was another success with 608 ducks sold. The derby took on a different approach this year by offering some new added attractions that featured cotton candy, popcorn, mini-donuts, hot dogs and hamburgers at the Sturgis Regional Park on June 8.

The fun family event featured a hot day followed by a hot dog lunch before dumping the ducks into the Assiniboine River. Once cast over the bridge, the ducks floated down the river to the finish line where the top four ducks were scooped up by members. Chris Walker and Brennan Boyko also dumped the ducks and caught the ducks at the finish line.

A large inflatable bouncy castle was set up for children's entertainment.

Jacqueline Hearn won first place, Shaun Howard placed second, Jim Prekaski placed third, and Belinda Rurka took home fourth place.
