Bruno’s Cherry Sunday is back with music, dancing, food, entertainment, vendors and all kinds of fun, according to organizer Debbie Kramer.

The event, which has been around for more than 15 years, will be taking place throughout the day on Aug. 11 at the St. Therese Institute. Included are a pancake breakfast, trade show, and entertainment featuring both local and further reaching acts, Kramer said.

“It's an entertaining day. It's inexpensive for families – we are just having a silver collection for admission,” Kramer said.

She said she expects the cherry food offers to be the day’s biggest draw.

“We have the cherry smokies, the elephant ears with cherry sauce, ice cream sundaes with cherries and cherry tarts,” Kramer said.

Cherry picking is, of course, also planned – those interested are encouraged to bring their own pails.

This year’s Cherry Sunday was mainly made possible by a large volunteer effort, said Kramer, spurred on after the event was skipped over last year.

“If it's gone for a year, that's one thing. But if it goes longer than that, it's so much harder to get it resurrected,” she said.

Kramer said the event has received excellent support from both businesses inside Bruno and outside of the town.
