Well, the Calder Parkland Regional Library Summer Reading Program is over for the summer. The children in the surrounding area enjoyed doing crafts, games of soccer, and wonderful snacks supplied by the parents. The Calder Summer Reading Program had from eight to fourteen children attending this year. And we all had a great time, so hope to see you all again next year.
Julia Mclean had her daughters from Mexico, Banff, AB, and Prince Albert, SK out visiting her for part of the summer. Then the whole family motored to Banff to visit out there for a couple of weeks. They also visited with Mary Sobkow and some other family members.
Family and friends gathered at the Calder Community hall on Aug. 4, to help celebrate Anna Fyck's 90th birthday.
On July 29, 2012, Kassidi Antony motored to Regina with her parents Thomas and Carol and her brother Wyatt, her grandparents Wayne and Tammy Antony to attend her first Natural Canadian Beauty Pageant!
Also attending the same pageant from Calder were Sophie and Abby Walker and their mother, Lorna Walker.
The girls participated in three categories; 'Sunday Best," "Western Wear" and "Beach Wear."
Abby Walker, who enjoyed the runway, walked away with three crowns, Miss Congeniality, Western Wear and Beach Wear in the newborn to three- year old category.
Sophie Walker received Prettiest Hair and Photogenic and second place in her age category, which is the four-year-old to six-year- olds.
Kassidi Antony said she enjoyed meeting new friends, and she received a crown for best smile.
Congratulations girls on a job well done.
The farmers are busy haying in the area and some farmers already have some crop swathed down and have started combining.
Don and Joy Kahut of Calgary are out in the Calder Area with their grandsons visiting with family and friends.
The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on Aug. 11, at the Good Neigbour Centre. Here are the winners of the Whist Drive: 1st Arnold Balabuk, 2nd James Fustey, 3rd Judy Pryslak, low went to Peter Wereshuck. The Pot of Gold winners were Marlene Balabuk and Marie Rohatensky.
Marie Rohatensky along with her daughter April Rohatensky motored to Winnipeg for a few days. On their journey they motored to Brandon to see the International Peace Gardens.
Marie Rohatensky had her son, Wayne Rohatensky and his daughter Madison, of Calgary visited for a few days. Wayne took in the Birthday Party of Anna Fyck and also attended some ball games in Yorkton.

Calder Annual Fall Supper will be held on Sept. 30, 2012. Supper starts at 4:30 to 7:00. Doors will be opened at 4:30, no sooner. So hope to see you there!
