The Canora Hospital Auxiliary October Pie and Coffee event had an increase in attendance from last year, according to event organizer, Laurie Wasylyw.

A total of 109 people attended the fundraising event on October 8, which allowed for over $650 in funds to be raised towards equipment and care for the hospital.

“This year we’ll be donating towards a patient scale for a ceiling lift,” Wasylyw said.

Almost all of the 22 active members of the Canora Hospital Auxiliary, as well as a few volunteers, helped with the event, including setting up, decorating, and donating pies. Elizabeth Palchewich, the acting nurse administrator for the Canora Hospital, also helped serve pie, coffee and juice to visitors.

Wasylyw read a greeting from the mayor and thanked the staff for assisting and community for attending before making the door prize draw, which was awarded to Beth Koban.

The Canora Hospital Auxiliary is already making preparations for its next event, the 60th annual Carol Festival to be held at Canora Composite School on December 4.
