The Sunrise Health Region has announced the welcome of a doctor for its primary health team in Canora.
Dr. Seema Ahmed will be instated as a general practitioner at the Canora Health and Wellness Centre in the Canora Hospital, and will begin working and serving the community on July 25.
“This is great news for the community of Canora and surrounding areas,” said Jacquie Holzmann, the Director of Integrated Primary Health, in a release from Sunrise Health Region. “We are very excited to have Dr. Ahmed working alongside the Canora health care team providing quality health services for residents.
Ahmed will join four other health providers: Dr. Victor Obiora, Dr. Hamed Afshari, Dr. Sirous Jafarian and Nurse Practitioner Lorri Dennis. Since the Canora Health and Wellness Centre will now have a full team of practitioners, the Sunrise Health Region is encouraging Canora residents to have their annual check-ups.
“Having a health provider dedicated to your health care needs provides consistency in care and allows the provider to better understand your entire health picture,” said Holzmann.
“It is important in taking care of yourself to have a constant care provider to get to know you and your unique situation.”
Holzmann concluded by saying that everyone benefits when relationships are formed, as they equate to an ability to better meet health care needs. She encourages Canora residents without a family doctor to contact one of the physicians, as they are all accepting new patients.
