Yorkton Council has declared Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 as Agriculture Week in the city.
They were unanimous in the declaration at their regular meeting Monday, following a request made by Juanita Polegi on behalf of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce and Yorkton Exhibition Association.
Polegi noted that the agriculture industry significantly impacts the economy of the City of Yorkton with more than 60 businesses directly involved in serving the farming and ranching community.
In addition, it is estimated that for every job in the agriculture industry another seven jobs are generated in the economy, said Polegi in making the request.
