PREECEVILLE - The Etoimamie Valley Riders held their annual fall trail ride/potluck supper/awards night on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Tom and Shirley Babchishin’s farm near Preeceville.
“We had 28 riders and two wagons full of people,” said Lisa Neilson, president. “We couldn’t have asked for a better day for a ride. We rode roughly 12 miles, crossed the river four times. It was probably the fastest trail ride we have had since all of our young members like to move and have fun together as a group. We would like to thank everyone who rode, Cameron Last and Ray Rosenkerr for bringing their teams, Mason Bilon for driving Rays team and Tom and Shirley Babchishin for hosting another great day,” she said.
The Etoimamie Valley Riders practice at the Sturgis Sports Grounds. We had 10 play dates this year from May to October which includes: barrel racing, pole bending, and a game. We also ran the gymkhana events at Sturgis Sports Days in June and Preeceville Western Days in July.

Awards were presented at the end of the ride for members in the weepee, pee wee, junior and senior categories.
In the weepee barrels and poles, Ryder Beatty won first place and received a bucket/scoop/vet wrap donated by Preeceville Vet Clinic, snacks for horses and humans, donated by Tom and Shirley Babchishin and Laura Lindholm placed second and received vet liniment, a black bucket and wrap donated by Lindholms.
In the weepee games, Laura Lindholm won first and received a horse and human snacks donated by Tom and Shirley Babchishin and Ryder Beatty placed second and received a black bucket and wrap donated by Lindholms.
In the peewee barrels category, Mercedes Lindholm placed first and received horse supplies donated by the Beatty family, Jade Beatty placed second an received horse shampoo/conditioner donated by Preeceville Vet Clinic and Jaxon Neilson placed third and received a bucket donated by Yorkton Peavy Mart.
In the peewee poles category, Jade Beatty placed first and received horse supplies donated by the Beatty family, Mercedes Lindholm placed second and received an Ultrashield donated by Lindholm’s and Arianna Neilson placed third and received a black bridal set donated by Preeceville Vet Clinic.
In the peewee games, Jade Beatty placed first and received an ultrashield donated by Lindholm’s Mercedes Lindholm placed second and received a bucket and scoop donated by Brent and Darlene Walker and Jaxon Neilson placed third and received green/blue reins donated by Marlene Palaniuk.
In the junior barrels and games, Jesse Beatty placed first and received a bucket and scoop donated by Brent and Darlene Walker and yellow bucket and dewormer donated by Karlee Boychuk, Maddison Auchstaetter placed second and received a feed bag donated by Brent and Darlene Walker and a green bucket, pink hay bag and vet wrap donated by Trevor and Lisa Neilson and Shyann Lindholm placed third and received a bucket donated by Peavy Mart and a bucket and scoop donated by Norquay Coop.
In junior poles, Jesse Beatty placed first and received a light and reins donated by Jackie Ripa, Maddison Auchstaetter placed second and received horse treats and yellow rope halter donated by Norquay Coop and Savannah Neilson placed third and received a bucket donated by Peavy Mart.
In the senior barrels, Ronnie Lindholm placed first and received a $50 gift certificate donated by Vitality Vet clinic in Yorkton, Ronda Palaniuk placed second and received a black rope halter and blue block donated by the Reynolds family and Jon Beatty placed third and received a black trailer tie donated by Marlene Palaniuk.
In the senior poles and games, Ronda Palaniuk won first and received a $50 gift certificate donated by Vitality Vet clinic in Yorkton and a coffee machine donated by Canadian Tire in Yorkton, Ronnie Lindholm placed second and received a cooling gel and blue halter donated by Matty Palaniuk and a rope halter and rope donated by Maddison Auchstaetter, and Jon Beatty- place third and received horse treats and swat clean donated by Matty Palaniuk and vet liniment donated by the Lindholm’s
The fastest barrels with a time of 16.842 seconds went to Shyann Lindholm who received a summer horse blanket donated by the Reynolds family.
Fastest poles with a time of 24.699 seconds went to Ronda Palaniuk and she received a winter horse blanket donated by the Reynold’s family.
High points went to Ronda Palaniuk with 140 pts and she won a trophy, halter, and horse treats donated by R and M Arabs.
The club did a draw with all members' names and the wagon drivers' names. The winner was Marlene Palaniuk who won a heated camping chair donated by Lexi Young.
The club gave Amanda Kowalchuk two $50 gift certificates to Rawhides for Amanda announcing at Sturgis Sports days and Preeceville Western Weekend.
Marlene Palaniuk also donated two $100 prizes to two little cowgirls on the ride. One went to Matty Palaniuk for riding bareback for the whole 12-mile ride; she even fell off once and got back on. The second went to Arianna Neilson who rode her saddle right off her horse, had a face full of dirt, got her horse re-saddled and finished off the ride
