Investigation continues into the cause of the fire which destroyed a single storey wood frame house at the intersection of East Avenue and Taylor Street on July 27.
The Kamsack fire brigade was called at about 6 p.m. to the house belonging to J.J. Fofonoff, said Ken Thompson, fire chief.
When the brigade arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames, coming through the windows and starting to go through the roof, Thompson said.
“We poured water on it, but because it was an old house with shavings and sawdust insulation, and because of the high humidity making smoke linger close to the ground, it was decided to get a backhoe to break the house apart,” he said.
No one was injured in the fire, although the house was occupied, he said. It was completely destroyed.
Of undetermined origin, the fire most likely began in the living room, Thompson said.
Firemen were on the scene until about 11:30 p.m.
