Five young men have been charged with offences that resulted in about $100,000 worth of damages in Kamsack last week.

On November 28 Kamsack RCMP were called to a Kamsack business because of a complaint of mischief and theft of a motor vehicle, said a release from the RCMP. The investigation revealed that four vehicles on the business’ property had sustained extensive damage, including smashed windows and steering columns, while six additional vehicles sustained minor damage. There was also damage to a tractor cab and utility task vehicle (UTV/side by side).

Police later located a burnt vehicle on a grid road north of Kamsack, the release said. It was determined the vehicle belonged to the same business.

Damages to the vehicles were estimated at approximately $100,000.

Five male youths were arrested and charged in relation to this investigation, it said. The youths cannot be identified because of stipulations in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All five youths were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, while one was also charged with arson, and two others with theft of a truck and mischief over $5,000.

All five have been released and are scheduled to appear in Kamsack Provincial Court on January 17.
