Marie Grychowski provided lunch for the bingo players on October 16 at the Golden Jets Centre. Bingo winners were Joe Kowalyshen (four), Mary Kowalyshen (two), Vivian Pasloski, Elaine Mitchell (two), Janet Yasinski, Mary Mikush (two), Eldean Shewchuk, Marie Grychowski and Sherri Houle.
October 11 Kaiser winners were Walter Karmazinuk and partner Mary Matsalla, first place; Violet Wilcocks and Vicky Wolkowski, second place; and Nick Woloschuk and Lisa Pasloski, third place.
Planned events at Invermay School for Education Week, held from October 17 to October 21, included trivia games, presentations from Shelwyn House and ASK activities. On October 19, Elder Shirley Wolfe-Keller did a presentation of “The Story of the Moccasin and the White Buffalo” followed by an open house and an Italian Night supper. Other activities included pumpkin decorating, sewing and pizza-making.
Visiting Linda and Andy Gray from Flin Flon, Man. were Monica and Dave Wood, their son Carson, Natasha Klye and Emery Stephansson.
This fall’s weather has not been helping out with harvest. A system pushed in rain, wind and snow. Area farmers have been struggling with the weather ever since.
Rama Co-op held a pancake breakfast on October 18 at the Recreation Centre to celebrate Co-op Week 2016. Co-op Week is always celebrated during the same week as International Credit Union Day, which is the third Thursday in October of each year. Co-op Week has been celebrated by Francophones since 1958, and appears to be a uniquely Canadian phenomenon.
Door prize winners at the breakfast were Lorne Baraniuk, Lisa Pasloski, Richard Newfield, Elsie Jensen, Nicholas Korchinski and Roger Genoway.
A birthday party was held on October 13 at the Golden Jets Centre for the months of May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. Hostesses were Janet Yasinski and Elaine Mitchell. Willie Jokubowski provided the entertainment. A short meeting was held and plans were discussed for the Remembrance Day service on November 11, the Holodomor anniversary celebration on November 19, and the Christmas party potluck on December 5.
