Kin Week has been declared for the week of Feb. 27 to March 6 in Yorkton.
The declaration was made by a unanimous decision of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting last Tuesday, Feb. 21, after receiving a joint request from the Kinsmen Club of Yorkton and the Yorkton Kinettes.
The week coincides with one of the biggest fundraising efforts of the service organization, Telemiracle.
“The 41st Annual Telemiracle telethon is coming up March 4-5th, 2016 in Saskatoon, which raises fund for Saskatchewan residents who need special medical equipment and/or service,” Sarah Kowalchuk, the Kinette president told Council.
Kowalchuk noted the local groups plan on hosting a number of Telemiracle fundraisers up to the dates of Telemiracle, hoping to raise $40,000 between the Kinsmen and Kinette clubs of Yorkton.
The funds on behalf of Yorkton and surrounding area will be presented on Sunday morning between 7-8 am on the Telemiracle CTV broadcast.
