MELFORT – A man who allegedly stole a house that was on a trailer to be transported had another appearance in Melfort court Monday.
Thirty-two-year-old Matthew Raymond Malley is charged with theft under $5,000, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon. Malley was scheduled to enter a plea but the matter was adjourned to Sept. 20.
Malley was arrested after someone called Tisdale RCMP saying that a house, which was loaded on a trailer to be transported, was stolen from Crooked River between midnight and 12:30 p.m. June 14. Crooked River is a Hamlet approximately 62 kilometres east of Melfort and has a population of about 57 people.
Police say that there was an altercation between a man and the owner of the house after the house went missing. At the time of Malley's arrest, police said they had not recovered the house and asked anyone if they see it to call Tisdale RCMP at 306-878-3810.
RCMP say that the house was found in a rural area outside of Nipawin on July 26.
The charges against Malley haven’t been tested in court.
Story updated to include that the house was found in rural area.
