For superheroes, saving the world is tough, but the time spent away from fighting crime is even worse, the audience of the Norquay High School’s senior drama will learn.
In the play Superheroes by Ian McWethy, the Hulk has to file his taxes, Hawkeye is behind on his laundry, Robin joins a support group for crime-fighting sidekicks and Batman goes stir-crazy without enough criminals to take down.
Superheroes, which will be performed at the Region 4 Drama Festival in Yorkton at Sacred Heart High School on Saturday afternoon, is “a funny, fast-paced look at how sometimes, great power comes with very ordinary responsibility,” said Barry Chorneyko, who, with Nicole Silvius, is directing the production.
The Norquay Drama Club will perform Superheroes at its 15th annual Dessert Theatre on April 7 at the Norquay School Gym. Tickets will be available from any drama member for $5 or at the door for $7. The evening will include the sale of 50/50 tickets.
The cast of the play includes: Sheldon Newberg, Calum Livingstone, Elena Gustafson, Ashley Barabonoff, Anna Howard, Dillon Nokinsky, Serra Judkins, Cole Bourque, Makenna Olson, Brooklyn Olson, Jesse Andrusiak, Shiann Lasko, Keely Foster and Ella Foster.
Taylor Romanyshyn is the stage manager and Emma Johnson is the assistant stage manager. Landon Rayner is looking after music and sound, and Cody Heskin, the lighting.
