The community of Preeceville celebrated a weeklong set of activities and events that were based on the celebration of Old Home Week.
The goal of the annual celebration is to provide an opportunity for former residents and guests to check out what's new in town.
Activities for the week kicked off with the staff of the Preeceville Personal Care Home hosting a perogie-and-sausage lunch on July 11.
The Preeceville and District Heritage Museum hosted an outdoor clay oven bread sale with chili and jam on the afternoon of July 12. Entertainment was supplied by Willie and June Jakubowski, Vicky and John Kowal, Phyllis Fleming and Stella Holmes.
Olivine Peterson won the raffle prize and Liz Jacobsen won the door prize at the end of the museum's chili-and-bread day.
The Preeceville Public Library also hosted a come-and-go anniversary tea on July 12.
The Preeceville Club 60 members hosted a hotdog, pie and coffee party on July 13.
The Preeceville Catholic Women's League hosted a Taste of Home homemade treats and refreshments booth at the Centennial Park on July 14.
The rest of the weekend followed with events at the Preeceville Western Weekend.
Old Home Week is a practice that originated in the New England region of the United States, similar to a holiday or festival, organizers said. In its beginning, in the 19th and 20th centuries, it involved a municipal effort to invite former residents of a village, town, or city, usually individuals who grew up in the municipality as children and moved elsewhere in adulthood, to visit the “old home,” the parental household and home town.
