Outlook Regional Park Making a Comeback

List of events organized for summer programs

The Outlook & District Regional Park is making something of a comeback this summer as organizers have planned a season-long schedule of events designed to draw more people back to the area and provide some fun memories for families.

Local resident and park enthusiast Cara Drury says that with the swimming pool in the park having been closed for the past few years, it’s time for a spotlight to be put back on the regional park and show the community what it can still offer.

Starting with this coming Saturday, July 8, there will be a new program offered down in the park on a largely-weekly basis until mid-August, highlighting everything from different animal species to scavenger hunts and building crafts.

The summer programs are free for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.  Every program will begin by meeting in the parking lot of the former swimming pool.

Each program in the month of July will begin at 2:00 pm.

The current schedule of events is as follows:

July 8 - Scavenger Hunt & Nature Hike

July 15 - Building Bird Feeders

July 22 - Presentation on Bees and Honey Production

July 29 - Last Mountain Lake National Wildlife Area and Migratory Bird Sanctuary Interpretive Trailer Visit

August 2 - Guided Bird Walk with Nature Saskatchewan Interpreter at 6:30 PM

August 4 - Owls on Tour from the Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre at 1:00 PM

August 10 - Pond Dipping with interpreter at 7:00 PM

August 17 - Presentation on Bats with interpreter from the Meewasin Valley Authority at 6:30 PM

The public is reminded that they need a valid park entry pass to access the Regional Park.  The proceeds generated from the sales of vehicle passes go directly back into the regional park, keeping the funds in the community.
