The community of Preeceville welcomed many visitors to the Canada 150 celebrations held on August 4 to 6. The weekend kicked off with children's activities at the Preeceville Lions Kiddies Park.

A meet-and-greet session for visitors followed at the Preeceville Community Hall. The Preeceville Art Group displayed its members’ artwork at the hall. Visitors were treated to souvenirs, birthday cake and a barbecue supper by the Preeceville 4-H Club. A brilliant firework display concluded the evening.

On Saturday a pancake breakfast and meet-and-greet session kicked off the day's events, followed by a parade with 57 entries.

Rae Rosenkerr provided horse-pulled wagon rides on Saturday and Sunday.

The Preeceville air cadets served a barbecue lunch on Saturday, which was followed by pie and coffee and horseshoe games at the Preeceville Club 60.

The Filipino community provided a Filipino lunch followed by a street dance with music by Saddles and Steel.

A heavy horse demonstration was a highlight to many in attendance with five horse teams entertaining by cultivating, discing, ploughing and raking hay.

A supper was hosted by the Preeceville Ukrainian Catholic Club with two separate supper seatings.

On Sunday, all events were held at the Preeceville Sportsgrounds. An interdenominational church service kicked off the events followed by children's activities, a ball game and lunch.

Fire truck rides were provided by the Preeceville Fire Department.

A threshing demonstration was provided by Vern Porowoznyk of Sturgis with helpers John Yanchuk, Gary Schur and Mike Smook.

"The threshing machine used in the demonstration was an 80 year-old McCormick with an AR John Deere used as a power source to turn the pulleys. The sheaves of wheat that were used were prepared last fall and kept dry until needed," said Poworoznyk. A Farmall-A tractor pulled the rack with the sheaves.
