The Preeceville branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation hosted its annual antler measuring day and meeting at the Preeceville Legion Hall December 13. Blair Mitchell, assisted by Heath Dreger, was in charge of measuring the entries.

They measured 24 trophies which included: one bear, nine moose, one elk, two mule deer and 10 white-tailed deer.

Reports on memberships, fisheries, habitat, firearms and one on conservation were introduced during the meeting portion.

The meeting focused on the election of new executive members, said Owen Myhr, the president. Also elected were: Darcy Rediger, vice-president; Heather Gawrelitza, secretary and treasurer; Eugene Panasiewich, habitat chairperson; Derek Wiwcharuk, fisheries chairperson; and Tony Steciuk, membership chairperson. Norman Johnson is the firearm safety chairman. Memberships for the year were set at $20 per person or $35 per family. There was a total of 314 memberships for 2015.

It was recorded that 30 hides had been dropped off at the branch’s hide shack.

A draw was held from the names of those donating the hides and Mehgan Petryshyn won the prize.

The club is also encouraging individuals to bring in or drop off photographs for the slide show to be shown at the banquet that will be held in March.
