SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in providing information about their ongoing investigation of a detached garage fire in the early morning of Tuesday, Aug. 23.
The Saskatoon Fire Department dispatch, at 2:23 a.m. on the said day, received a 911 call reporting a garage fire in the 900-block Avenue K South dispatching three fire engines, one ladder truck, a rescue unit and the Battalion Chief to the scene.
The first firefighters to arrive saw flames showing from a garage with the Incident Commander assigning other duties to the other incoming fire crews. The fire was brought under control at 3:10 a.m. with damage contained to a fence and the double detached garage.
A fire investigator was also requested to examine the scene. The investigator concluded that the cause of the fire was suspicious and originated from the fence that extended to the detached garage, causing $50,000 in estimated damage.
The SPS is requesting that anyone who has information relating to this fire call 306-875-8300.
