SASKATOON — Saskatoon - The city's street crews and contractors have begun sweeping priority streets and repairing potholes as part of their road maintenance and repair programme. Residential street sweeping will commence next week. Crews have also started renewing durable line markings on the city's roads.

Pothole and Utility Cut Repairs

Crews are fixing potholes, beginning with those on high-traffic priority streets' driving lanes. As temperatures rise, temporary cold-mix-filled potholes are being repaired permanently with hot-mix asphalt.

Residents are encouraged to report potholes on the interactive Report a Pothole Map. Emergency pothole locations can also be reported by calling the Customer Care Centre at 306-975-2476.

Road repairs will start next week in locations where the road was cut to access underground utilities. Crews will smooth the gravel until the paving team repairs the cuts.

Line and Crosswalk Painting

Crews are also repainting lines and crosswalks to ensure safe driving conditions. Line painting crews paint approximately 800 kilometres of lane lines and 1,200 crosswalks two to three times yearly, depending on the weather and durability.

Drivers encountering a line painting crew on the road are advised to stay behind the pilot truck that follows the painting truck. The paint needs a few seconds to dry, and the truck operator may not see a vehicle or person in their blind spot.
