SASKATOON - A man who went missing after his vehicle became stuck in the snow Wednesday has been found deceased.
Saskatoon RCMP say 60-year-old Jack Crouch from Kenaston was spotted from the air about a kilometre from an abandoned vehicle.
RCMP say that at approximately 1:38 p.m., a Civil Air Search and Rescue Association plane assisted the Saskatoon RCMP with the efforts to locate him. At approximately 1:58 p.m., the plane located a red vehicle that looked abandoned and what appeared to be a deceased individual approximately one km east of the vehicle, on a non-maintained roadway in the Kenaston district.
Officers were able to travel to the location and identified the male as being Jack Crouch, who was the subject of the missing persons report from the day before. He was located deceased with no physical signs of trauma.
His next of kin have been notified and an autopsy has been ordered by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
The vehicle was also located and searched by officers. RCMP says the investigation has determined there are no indications of criminality that took place.
Yesterday's report to the police was that Crouch and a second adult male were travelling in the general area of Highway 15 between Watrous and Kenaston. When their vehicle became stuck in the snow, the second adult male walked some distance seeking assistance.
Search efforts began to locate Crouch. With it being dark out and continued drifting and blowing snow conditions, they stressed they were not seeking general public assistance with the active searches, however they asked people with yards or acreages in the area of Highway15 between Watrous and Kenaston to check outbuildings for any signs of Crouch.
Saskatoon RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services, Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, a Saskatoon Police Service aircraft, CASARA and neighbouring RCMP detachments all assisted with the search.
