YORKTON - Snowmobile enthusiasts from all over raised pledges for a great cause - to raise funds for individuals experiencing disability.

Snowarama is a fundraising family friendly event that combines winter fun and community spirit in support of Easter Seals™ Saskatchewan, and this year they raised a record $200,000.

“We were excited to welcome 175 past and new snowmobile riders and bowlers to the 47th Annual Snowarama.

“In addition, the Desert Chapter which includes past Snowarama riders, rallied friends to raise funds and ride their motorcycles in support of Camp Easter Seal, Summer Fun, and Adaptive Technologies.

“Together they raised over $77,000”, said Aleks Hoeber, Regional Director of the Yorkton Branch.

Back again for the 2nd year, was the Bowlarama for Snowarama event. Bowlarama involved individuals who participate in Easter Seals programs. Fourteen teams and 55 bowlers showed their support by raising pledges and bowling. $19,079 was raised at this 2nd annual event.

“For us this fundraising event, is about coming together as a community to make a difference in the lives of children, youth and adults experiencing disability,” said Hoeber.

“We are thrilled to announce that the Snowarama community’s generosity resulted in the record-breaking total of $200,000!

“The money raised will make an incredible difference to individuals accessing Camp Easter Seal, Summer Fun, and the Adaptive Technologies Services. The average cost of sending one individual to Camp Easter Seal is $2000, and thanks to your support individuals can attend free of charge.

“Thank you riders and community for sending 100 individuals experiencing disability to camp.”

The top three fundraisers were: Kenn Propp raising $35,365, Kevin Hruska raising $25,070, and Rudy Flaman raising $21,599.

Platinum sponsors of the event include Legacy Co-op, Yorkton Sno-Riders, Fox FM, GX94, CTV, Yorkton This Week, The Marketplace, and the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association.

“This event would not be successful without the hard work and commitment of the Snowarama Committee and the many volunteers who contribute countless hours.” added Hoeber.
