Sturgis council makes appointments to boards and committees

The Town of Sturgis made its local board and committee appointments at the November 24 meeting. The appointments are in effect from this month to December 2017. Council made the following appointments according to Olivia Bartch, administrator.

            The appointments are in effect from this month to December 2017. Council made the following appointments according to Olivia Bartch, administrator.

             Larry Skogen, Dianne Pollock, Hazel Urbanoski were appointed to the cemetery board with Alan Holmberg as council representative.

            Barb Wagar, Jeannette Budnick, Ray Skogen, Marcia Yagelnesky, Karen Rose and Wayne Barsby were appointed to the economic development committee.

            Blaine Medlang, Brad Secundiak, Shawn Howard, Olivia Bartch and Aileen Lubiniecki were appointed to the Emergency Measures Organization with Alan Holmberg and Dale Bashforth  as council representatives.

            Hazel Urbanoski and Pauline Lee were appointed to the Parkland Regional Library board.

            Hazel Urbanoski, Pauline Lee, Val Surcon, Greta German, Reg Strand and Elaine Semeschuk were appointed to the Sturgis library with Bert Suknasky as the council representative.

            Barb Wagar, Greta German, Hazel Urbanoski, Myrtle Boychuk, Kathy Brodie, Vern Poworoznyk and Karen Rose, with Dale Bashforth as the council representative, were appointed to the museum board.

            Amanda Masley, Annette Devries, Hazel Urbanoski, Lawrence Hamilton, Craig Folk, Sarah Severson, Greg Olson, Carla Olson, Kim Ryczak, Shawna Johnson and Shirley Barbsy were appointed to the recreation board.

            Greg O1son, Conrad Peterson, Kristen Peterson, Wes Jaeb and Trudy Halvorson were appointed to the rink board, with Jennifer Bayer as the council representative.

            Craig Folk, Kristen Peterson, Trudy Halvorson, Keith Babiuk, Brad Cameron and Tyler Blender were appointed to the Sturgis curling rink committee with Conrad Peterson as the council representative.

             Raymond Skogen, Lawrence Hamilton and Hazel Urbanoski, were appointed to the  Sturgis and  District Care Home committee with Jennifer Bayer and Bert Suknasky as council representatives.

            Terry Hancock, Walter and Karen Rose, Hazel Urbanoski, Greta German, Kim Rose, Dean Serdachny, Don Kuraluk, Suzanne Coshbern, Lillian Smith and Jean Babiuk were appointed to the hall fundraising committee.

            Tom Smith, Lillian Smith, Donna Sikorski, Jean Babiuk, Eugene Steciuk, Clifton Sjolie, Janice Beatty, Vi Skogen and Cheryl Walker were appointed to the bingo committee.

            Brad Secundiak was appointed as fire chief.

            Blaine Medlang was appointed as Emergency Measure Organization co-ordinator.

            Collins Barrow, PQ LLP, was appointed as council’s auditor.

            Seidle Law Firm was appointed as solicitor.

            Councillor Jennifer Bayer was appointed to the doctors’ incentive committee.

            Don Olson was appointed to the Assiniboine Watershed and the North East Area Transportation Planning Committee (transportation board).

            Brian Wiwcharuk and Olivia Bartch were appointed to the Sturgis and District Rural Fire Co-op board.

            Councellor Bert Suknasky with alternate councillor Perry Keller were appointed  to the  Parkland Regional Waste Authority.

            Council as a whole was appointed to the finance and fiscal services committee, administration, bylaws and policies committee, protective services and transportation committee and utilities committee.

            Dale Bashforth, Perry Keller, Bert Suknasky and Daniel Wasylenchuk were appointed to the hall sub committee.

            Mayor Holmberg, and councillors Jennifer Bayer and Conrad Peterson were appointed to the human resources committee.

            Deputy mayors appointed were: Jennifer Bayer, November 2016 to December 2016; Perry Keller, January and February; Daniel Wasylenchuk, March and April; Conrad Peterson, May and June; Bert Suknasky, July and August; Dale Bashforth, September and October, and Jennifer Bayer, November and December 2017.
