Two Invermay seniors selected for prestigious awards

Sheila McDonald and Margaret Knight of Invermay were presented prestigious awards at the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism sixth-annual Celebrating Seniors Volunteer Awards event at the Delta Hotel in Regina on October 4.

Sheila McDonald and Margaret Knight of Invermay were presented prestigious awards at the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism sixth-annual Celebrating Seniors Volunteer Awards event at the Delta Hotel in Regina on October 4.

McDonald received the Lifetime Achievement Award which is awarded “to an outstanding senior whose volunteering spirit and dedication throughout his or her lifetime has improved society and inspired others.”

Knight received the Community Leadership (rural) Award which is awarded “to the senior who best exemplifies the qualities of leadership within a rural community - integrity, vision, dedication, and the respect of others - and regularly participates in establishing and supporting activities in rural Saskatchewan.”

These senior volunteers were honoured with a PowerPoint presentation. They received a pin from Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield, as well as a certificate and gift bag.

Both were nominated by the Invermay Golden Age Club.
