Two University of Regina researchers will serve as panelists at virtual Town Halls this week to answer questions and help counter vaccine misinformation in Saskatchewan.
Dr. Andrew Cameron, Associate Professor of Biology and Dr. Tanya Dahms, Professor of Biochemistry are teaming up with researchers from the University of Saskatchewan and local physicians and pharmacists to answer questions from Saskatchewan people about the science and safety of COVID-19 vaccines. The goal is to provide a non-judgemental and inclusive environment that will inspire informed vaccination decisions based on accurate information.
These events are an initiative of COVID-19 Resources Canada, a national, grassroots organization of volunteers with multidisciplinary expertise that serves as a reliable source of COVID-19 vaccine information by partnering with local communities and institutions. Tanya Dahms is Saskatchewan’s regional leader, spearheading efforts across the province.
“There is a great deal of misinformation circulating about vaccines and vaccinations,” says Dahms. “In response we have assembled this panel of Saskatchewan-based experts to help the public filter through and make sense of what’s out there. These sessions will offer a safe space for Saskatchewan citizens to ask any questions they may have in relation to vaccines and vaccinations.”
In order to facilitate a safe space which promotes open and honest discussion, the town hall will not be recorded. As well media representatives are respectfully asked to refrain from attending for reporting purposes. However, interviews with organizers can be facilitated pre- or post-event (see below for details).

COVID-19 Resources Canada has been conducting similar sessions across the country in order to deliver accurate information and empower Canadians to make informed decisions about vaccination.
