An annual event sponsored by the Kamsack branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) was held on July 20 at Jackfish Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park.

The annual Kids Fishing Derby attracted a good number of participants for a day of fishing and fun.

“We had a good turnout of around 30 youngsters for the event,” said Alison Stefiuk, an organizer. “The day started out with some doubts about the weather, but it turned out to be a beautiful day for fishing.”

Each child received a fishing tool at the time of registration, and various prize draws were held throughout the derby.

“It was a fun day for all in attendance,” Stefiuk continued. “The organizers with the Wildlife Federation would like to acknowledge all of the volunteers and sponsors who helped make the event a success, and all the youngsters who participated. We are looking forward to next year.”
