The Yorkton Bantam A Terriers combined hockey team played Estevan in back to back games recently.

Yorkton won by scores of 10-4 and 2-1.

Most recently was Sunday afternoon at the Kinsmen Arena.

Yorkton's defence went into shut-down mode and held off a much bigger Estevan Century 21 Border Real Estate Bruins club, insists coach Evan Johnson.

"They were huge. Our kids played well. We believe we knocked off the best team in the province."

They were very persistent. We just kept coming at them," adds Johnson of the opening game in which they pounded out 10 goals.

Going into Sunday's game, "we had to play a very defensive game. The boys stuck to the plan."

Johnson said the combined team, which includes players from two different Yorkton bantam hockey teams, had "unbelievable goaltending".

Both Dawson Stefanyshyn and Brody Schmidt shared the goaltending duties and both recorded victories.

Scoring saw Jorie Dull and Jaden Porte combine for 10 points over the weekend.
