YORKTON - It was a huge road win for the Yorkton Terriers Friday.
The Terriers were in Nipawin for an SJHL match-up between the 9th and 10th place teams in the overall standings with every point crucial as the regular season nears its end.
The Hawks looked ready to defend home ice striking 16 seconds in on a goal by Alex Bernauer.
But, the Terriers would take the lead to the dressing room after 20-minutes of play thanks to a pair of powerplay goals.
Aiden Knutson tied the score 1-1 with a man advantage marker at 13:13.
The lead came on a goal by Anthony McIntosh at 17:57.
Anthony Domina extended the lead with a marker 3:57 into the second period, and it was 4-1 through 40-minutes after Cooper Algajer scored for Yorkton at 19:34.
When the third period was a scoreless affair the Terriers had a much-needed win 4-1.
Ethan Farrow was in the Terriers net for the victory facing 35-shots.
Damon Cunningham was the Hawks netminder. He faced 32-shots in the loss.
With the win the Terriers have 46 points after 52 games, still last in the Viterra Division, four back of Weyburn with 50 points, but the Red Wings have played three less games than Yorkton.
Tonight the Terriers host Kindersley. The Klippers sit with 51 points on the overall standings
