The Canora senior Cougars girls volleyball team finished a successful season with a third-place victory.
Conference playoffs took place for the Canora Composite School team at Langenburg on November 5, according to coach Colin Knight. The girls played against three other teams from Langenburg Central School, Foam Lake Composite High School and Balcarres Community School.
The Canora senior Cougars had a loss against Langenburg, but fought their hardest battle in the second set against Foam Lake, said Knight. The girls finished that set with a score of 21-25.
“I attribute their high score to a more aggressive offense, tighter defense and consistently powerful serving,” Knight said.
The team won its final match against Balcarres in order to be awarded third place. To end the season, the girls hugged and congratulated Carmen Stusek, their team captain and a Grade 12 student who will be graduating in 2017.
Knight said he would like to acknowledge the many parents who helped raise funds to keep the volleyball program active at Canora Composite School.
