Daniels' Discusses Golf Discs

Welcome to another year of golf disc reviews. It already has been an unusual season at Patrick Park Golf Course. I managed four rounds in late March and the weather was actually great even in comparison to spring normally.

Then April was basically a write off. It was not a good month at all. There were some rounds, but generally not very good in terms of weather with cold and wind the norm.

May has been nominally better, but then again in Saskatchewan you better be able to deal with wind.

And that is a segue into this week's review of the Cannon distance driver from Legacy Discs.

You may not have heard of Legacy Discs yet, since they are a newcomer to the disc golf market, but it is a name you will want to get to know.

The first discs from Legacy hit the market only last year, but since then they have been active with a range of fliers rolling out of their development program.

The Cannon is their debut into drivers, and like many new, smaller companies, they have a winner here.

The Cannon flies far, although it is a bit more finicky than some discs, or there is more rust on my game from winter than I thought. If the Cannon gets up in the air too high it doesn't react like you will want.
Keep it steady with a strong flat trajectory and it curves right and fades back in a nice gentle curve to drop well down the course, and directly in front of the thrower. I like that since you can build a game around a good centre of the green drive.

Legacy offers several plastics in its line and this Cannon is an Icon Edition.

"Our Icon Edition has the most grip of all despite rainy conditions," states the website.

Now I haven't been out in the rain yet. That would just be too cold yet, but I look forward to finding out if their claim is accurate in some July shower.

The website also states, "the Icon plastic is of the latest technology that offers the fastest flight. Its durability is second to none. Very consistent flight patterns throughout various weather conditions."

That holds true. It's a speedy flier on the level deliveries. The disc also holds well in the wind, especially those headwinds, and that is good news in Saskatchewan.

The Cannon is one new disc with a lot of potential for Canadian Prairie players.
