The Deer Park Cup was held over the weekend at Deer Park Municipal golf course. Twenty six people took part. They were divided into two teams. Thirteen played on each team.
Team one included Allan Sauser, Ken Burton, Rick Ecktor, Brett Presley, Jason Gordon, Ed Sorsdahl, Graham Garrett, Wayne Rusnak, Terry Schmidt, Bruce Hildebrand, Basie Spies, Barry Coles and Bob LeCain.
"The tournament was a blast and a great success," offers Sauser, captain of the team. They ended up winning the tournament by a single point.
"It came down to the las match on hole 18," Sauser said following the end of the tournament.
Over the course of the tournament, they played three rounds on Saturday-two person match play scramble, he said. On Saturday afternoon-two person match play alternate shot and singles match play on Sunday. The next tournament at Deer Park will be the 2011 Ironman Octoberfest Scramble on Oct. 1. There is a 12 noon shotgun start. Teams can enter as a men's, women's or a mixed team.
Entry fee is $35 (plus green fees for non members).
